How to Build Healthy Habits?

What are healthy habits? Eating plant-based food, doing fitness, meditating…?
Yes, I agree. But above all, having healthy habits means living healthily. It’s not just about food and fitness. It’s much more than that. It’s about being truly happy and satisfied. Feeling good in your own skin.
As I already mentioned, healthy habits are not just nutrition and exercise. Our spiritual development, education, thoughts we have most of the day, presence in the moment, decisions… all these are “little things” that make our life more or less quality.
Being healthy in body, spirit, and mind – that’s the goal. If we have lived a certain way for years, our body and mind react strongly to any change. That’s why it all seems difficult. We want everything immediately, but it doesn’t work that way. Our people say: “Everything that is fast is also short-lived!” So give yourself time and go step by step. Only this way is it possible to painlessly transition from the current to the desired point. Enjoy the journey and don’t rush toward the goal.
What is the key to everything is balance!
Every change comes gradually and requires desire and persistence. Through the following examples, we will remind you how seemingly ordinary and small things can make you feel better, fresher, and enjoy the process of creating healthy habits.
WATER COMES FIRST
The optimal daily water intake is between one and a half and two liters. If you are regularly physically active, as well as during intense heat, daily water intake increases. Proper hydration is of great importance for our organism. Some of the benefits of regular hydration are increased energy, maintaining body weight, faster metabolism, and more beautiful skin.
SLEEP – IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO SLEEP WELL AND ENOUGH
It is known that we need an average of 6 to 8 hours of sleep. However, this amount is individual and depends greatly on age. Children need up to 13 hours of sleep, young people up to 18 years need 9 hours of sleep, and adults generally need between 6 and 9 hours.
The benefits of quality and good sleep are great. Above all, it makes us rested, cheerful, helps us function regularly during the day, gives us much more strength and concentration, and long-term protects our heart and cardiovascular system.
CONSUME FRESH AND QUALITY FOODS
By choosing the foods we consume during the day, we directly affect the overall functioning of the organism throughout the day. It is very important that we choose fresh and proper foods that contain all the nutrients we need.
Never skip breakfast. Breakfast is truly the most important meal and represents the start of our day. The foods we choose for this part of the day should preferably be rich in proteins and fats because they will keep us full for a long time.
Balanced nutrition is best for our organism. This means having 3 main meals and, if needed, a snack containing fruit. Balanced nutrition involves the intake of good fats, proteins, and fiber.
REDUCE STRESS
Take care of your mental health just as you take care of your physical health. Try to constantly work on yourself, surround yourself with people you love and who make you laugh, change your environment – take a walk, and find a little time for yourself every day and treat yourself to reading a good book, meditation, yoga, or a good workout and recharge your batteries.
MOVE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
According to World Health Organization recommendations, 30 minutes of moderate physical activity during 5 days a week is sufficient to achieve visible results regarding your health.
To additionally help your body, practice stretching. Stretching is important for achieving flexibility, and if you do it immediately upon waking up, you will make everything during the day easier to complete.
And to avoid burdening yourself with various information, plan. Planning, writing down, and good organization are the key to success. Very little organization can save us from additional stress, headaches, or the feeling that we forget about ourselves due to a large number of obligations, and it will be very useful when acquiring new healthy habits.
And don’t forget, you do all this for yourself, your body, spirit, and smile.
